To complete the work =8 x12= 96 man-hours are required.

To complete the same work= 16 x 12= 192 woman- hours are required.

So 1 man- hour= 192/96= 2- woman -hours.( Or)

1 woman -hour= 1/2 man-hours

8 men+ 8 women= (8 +8/2)= 12 man - hours.

If they work 6-days the amount of work done= 12 x 6= 72 man - hours.

The remaining work consists of =(96–72)= 24

Given:

12 men can complete a painting work in 8 days.

16 women can complete the same painting work in 12 days

8 men started painting the house.

After 6 days of painting, 2 men were replaced by 4 women

Formula used:

Work = Efficiency × Time

Calculation:

12 men can complete a painting work in 8 days = (12 × 8) = 96

16 women can complete the same painting work in 12 days = (16 × 12) = 192

The ratio of men and women = (96 : 192)

⇒ 1 : 2

Total work = (12 × 1 × 8) = 96 units

Now,

8 men started the painting for 6 days = (8 × 1 × 6) = 48 units

Remaining work = (96 – 48) = 48 units

2 men were replaced by 4 women = (4 × 2) = 8 women

Now,

Time taken to complete the remaining painting = (48/8)
