Correct option is A)

Let the total distance travelled be x km Then total time taken =

10 x/3 + 20 x/3 + 60 x/3 = 30 x + 60 x + 180 x = 180 6x+3x+x = 180 10x = 18 x

Here is a simple equation

V average = 2V1V2/(V1+V2)

Here V1 = 24km/hr V2= 36km/hr

Substitute these values in the equation, you will be getting 28.8km/hr as the answer.

Ans is 28.8 km/h.

Assume the distance for one side is ‘s’. Therefore the total time taken for forward and backward journey is (s/24)+(s/36) which equals 5s/72.

Av speed = total distance /total time

Here total distance is 2s (forward and backward)

So, av speed= 2s/(5s/72) which equals 28.8 km/hr.

Let the distance be x, the time taken for going =x/24 and the time taken for coming back is x/36. Therefore the total time taken is x/24+x/36= 5x/72. In this time, the car covered 2x distance (going and coming back). Therefore average speed = 2x/(5x/72)=144/5= 28.8km/h

Factors of 24 = 2x2x2x3 36 = 2x2x3x3

LCM = 2x2x2x3x3 = 72

Suppose the journey is 72 km long.

The car cover the outward journey in 72/24in 3 hours.

The return journey takes 72/36 = 2 hours.

So the average speed = (total distance covered)/(total time of travel)

= (72+72)/(3+2) = 144/5

## Detailed Solution

Given:

Total Distance cover = 78 + 50 = 128 km

Total time taken = 90 + 70 = 160 minutes =

16060 hours

Formula use:

Average speed = Total Distance Travelled / Total Time taken

Calculation:

Average speed = 12816060 Average speed = 128160×60

Average speed = 48 km/hour

Therefore, the average speed of the car is 48 km/hour.

Hence, the correct answer is 48 km/hour.
