Answer / Dinu
More descriptive way :-
The computer centre spends 3/4 of 1440 (ie,1080/-)for heavy duty tapes.
That means they are spending 360/- (ie,1440-1080) for regular tapes.
With 1080 Rs they can buy 36 units (ie,1080/30)
With 360 Rs they can buy 15 units (ie,360/24)
Again with the new prices :
To buy 36 units : 36*28= 1008
To buy 15 units : 15*23= 345
Total=1353
How much will they save a month under the new prices?

Sep 7th, 2013 for old price
Hd tape = (3/4)*1440 = 1080
Hd tape + Reg tape = 1440
(3/4)*1440 + Reg tape = 1440
SO, Reg tape = 360 HD tape = 1080
no. of reg tape = 360/24 = 15
no. of HD tape = 1080/30 = 36
For new price, Hd tape savings = (30-28) = 2
Reg tape savings = 24-23 = 1
Total savings = (36*2)+(15*1) = 87
Note : here the twist in question is Rs.1440 is the expense of both reg and HD tapes. and not reg tapes alone..so be careful..

Total money spend on tapes=1440 Rs
Money spend on heavy tapes= 3/4*(1440)=1080 Rs
So, 1440= 1080 +x (Money spends on simple tapes)
x= 360 Rs. now,
in 1080 Rs,no of heavy duty tapes get = 1080/30= 36
now saving on 1 heavy duty tape=30-28=2
saving on 36 duty tape= 36*2=72
now, Regular tapes = 360/24=15
saving on 1 tape= 24-23=1 Rs
saving on 15 tapes=15*1 =15 Rs
Total saving= saving on heavy duty tape +saving on simple tapes
= 72 + 15 = 87 Rs
