Describe an object you find particularly beautiful ( for example, painting, wooden craft, jewellery, furniture, etc.)

Sample answer:- Describe an object you find particularly beautiful ( for example, painting, wooden craft, jewellery, furniture, etc.)

To be honest, I have always been interested in collecting beautiful artistic things for my house as it helps to enhance the interior of my house. Although there are a plethora of things that I find attractive and believe me, it’s pretty hard for me to choose one among them, here I had to go with one particular object which is splendid.

This object is a painting of a young mother carrying a baby. I vividly remember, about three years ago, when we are expecting and celebrating our baby shower. We received great blessings and precious presents from our near and dear ones.  One of my friends gave this beautiful painting to me on a special occasion. After seeing this, I had mixed feelings. Genuinely speaking, I was on top of the world and a bit emotional, too, at the same time because that was a precious gift for me.

I must say that immediately after seeing this painting, I hung it on the front wall of my room, and I still have it.

If I am talking about how it looks, it is a portrait of a young woman standing in the middle of the painting and a baby. She is in forward and backwards; there is a cliff right side, and on the left side is a waterfall serene with moonlight. Moreover, this painting is in vibrant colour, which makes it so real.

In fact, there are a few reasons why I like it; firstly, this is such a masterpiece designed by an eminent painter. He tried to put all emotions and feelings in one portrait. Besides this, that painting is not merely an object for me, but it’s more like a blessing or well- wishes of my friend. In short, this painting makes me feel so optimistic and emotional simultaneously because it shows the real love, struggle, and bond between a mother and a child. So this is the object that I find most precious and marvellous.

Follow-ups Describe an object you find particularly beautiful ( for example, painting, wooden craft, jewellery, furniture, etc.)

Question 1. Do you think there are more beautiful things today than past?

Answer – No, I do not think that things are more beautiful now than in the past because in ancient times, everything was handmade and handicraft, and it had its own value, while in the present time, things are made by machinery, and they are not long-lasting.

Nowadays, things are more fashionable and facilitating, but longevity is relatively low as compared to the past.in short, things have become more precious, beautiful, and artistic in the past years.

Q2;- Do you think there are many scenic spots in India or are there many more in other countries?

Answer – Yes, undoubtedly, India is a diverse country, and we can easily enjoy the breathtaking picturesque views of mountains, rivers, cliffs, beaches, and many more. Add to it, India has rich culture and heritage, making it unique and different from other countries. Compared with foreign countries, India has more natural or mesmerizing scenic places. In contrast, in other countries, some artificial places also look beautiful. In short, in India, we can enjoy a variety, for example, from scorching desserts to chilly hill stations.Follow Us on IELTSFever Twitter for more updates

IELTS Speaking Part 2: IELTS Cue Card/ Candidate Task Card.

Describe an object you find particularly beautiful (e.g. a painting, sculpture, piece of jewellery/furniture, etc.).

    You should say:

    where the artwork/object is

    how it was made

    what it shows/looks like

and explain why you find it particularly beautiful.

[You will have to talk about the topic for one to two minutes. You have one minute to think about what you're going to say. You can make some notes to help you if you wish.]

    Model Answer 1:

My house is full of different kinds of furniture, that are laying there for ages, and that are also serving many purposes of my house. But, today, I would like to talk about a piece of furniture which is relatively new, and which I particularly find beautiful.

The furniture, I am talking about, is a large computer desk which my family has bought rather recently from a famous chain furniture store in my country. Even though it was primarily bought to use as a family computer desk, now we use it for practically all purposes, from ironing our clothes to eating our afternoon snacks. Not to mention, of course, the L-shape desk is large enough, not only to accommodate our big, old desktop but also to keep some of the best-looking flower vases that our house has.

Anyway, to describe the computer desk, in a bit more details, it is a brownish and wooden (from oak tree) desk that have perfectly well-rounded corners. Its edges on all sides are curved very smoothly in order to render the desk a rather modern look overall. It's also very wide and deep, which gives us plenty of room, not only to place a computer, but also to do other things which I have already mentioned above. By the way, even though, originally the desk, which can be broken into pieces and assembled easily, had a rather expensive price tag, my family actually got to buy it on a discounted price. In fact, the desk costed us only a little over 200 US dollars, which also additionally included some beautifully-designed metal legs if we wanted to ever use them later on.

Anyway, I find this particular piece of furniture beautiful, mainly because it looks very shiny as if it is just newly-bought. Besides, the particular piece of furniture blends in perfectly and naturally with the other household items inside the room in order to give it a rather elegant look.

    Sample Answer 2:

Thank you for this nice cue card topic. In fact, the Statue of Liberty, located on the Liberty Island in New York, is one of the most impressive and wonderful sculptures in the whole world and attracts thousands of tourists every day from different parts of the world. This is a historical sculpture and was a gift from the French people to the USA marking the centennial of the liberty of the USA. I am thankful for this cue card topic and the remaining answer goes here.

It was made of copper. The structure of the statue was made with a combination of iron and copper. And it was sent to the USA by breaking down the entire statue into several parts. The design of the statue was done by Frederich Bartholdi while it was made by Gustave Eiffel himself who is also famous for the construction of the Eiffel Tower in France.

The statue is a symbolic one and the Lady Liberty has a nice look. The statue is also known as the Liberty Enlightening the World. The statue is in the form of a robbed woman who represents Libertas. Libertas was a Roman goddess. And here, the statue wears a crown on her head, holds a torch with her right hand above the head. She is also carrying a book in her left arm that contains the date of independence declaration of the USA. The broken chain down at her feet symbolizes freedom.

This is a beautiful sculpture indeed in all terms. Though the symbolic meaning is not known to all, people all around the world come to visit the statue and the island only to enjoy its exceptional beauty. Earlier, the visitors could have reached the torch but now the visit is limited. It has been enlisted with the UNESCO World Heritage Site list in 1984.

More Ideas to talk about this Cue Card/ Candidate Task Card topic:

Topic: Describe an object you find particularly beautiful (e.g. a painting, sculpture, piece of jewellery/furniture, etc.).

    1. Recently, I went to a museum in Germany and found a painting quite elegant. It was painted with oil composition. A country view was portrayed in the portrait. The painting looked striking on the wall. In fact, it was the first thing that attracted my respects. It was completely different from the other types of artefacts in the museum. The scenarios were bright and it was really admirable.2. The half-man and half mountain, also known as the colossus are located in Italy. It was erected in 1500 by a famous Italian sculptor. The sculpture was made with a combination of different elements. The statue looks like a monster trying to grab something from the water. The sculpture is beautiful in some senses. It has some rooms inside the body which are trickily hidden. The sculpture is also 35 feet tall and comes with a strong look.3. The Sapphire Ring used by Princess Diana is now handed over to Kate Middleton. It was an iconic ring and was given to Diana on her engagement. The shape and size of the rings are perfect. The stone on the ring shines brightly even in low light. The ring has some specialities. First of all, the price is an issue to consider. Besides, the historical value of the ring is immeasurable. Prince Charles gave the ring to Lady Diana Spencer and only for that reasons, the ring is more valuable aside from its real price.

Model Answers and follow up questions to Describe an object you find particularly beautiful (For example, a painting, sculpture, piece of jewellery/furniture, etc.) IELTS Cue Card:

    Model Answer 1:Introduction:

Well, India is a diverse country and has a rich cultural heritage. So, there are many things that are quite spectacular and precious.

    Where the artwork/object is?

Here I would like to talk about the object which I find beautiful. The object is an antique handicraft wooden mirror frame.

I vividly remember, on my 18th birthday, I received many presents from my near and dear ones.

On that special occasion of mine, my grandmother gifted me a wooden box. When I opened it, I was bold from the blue because there was an elegant mirror. After receiving that gift, I was on the seventh heaven because that was a precious gift for me.

How it was made?I don’t exactly know how it was made, because I my grandmother gifted me.What it looks like? But I still have that mirror, and I have placed at on the front wall of my room as it is an oval-shaped mirror so it enhances the beauty of my room. And explain why you find it particularly beautiful? Also, this mirror has a wooden frame which is quite eye-catchy. Even it is stubbed with beautiful stones. Honestly speaking, it seems like art of architecture.

Besides, this mirror is not only an object for me. In fact, its like a blessing of my grandmother. Even, I would love to get it with me whenever I go overseas for my higher education.

As I’m an art enthusiast, I’ve collected many handicraft objects. This is the reason my friends often call me a pack rat. But I think that I know what the precise value of these objects. So I use this mirror daily to see myself and it gives me inner complacency.

Conclusion:Overall, this is the object that I find particularly beautiful, and it is so close to my heart.Model Answer 2:Introduction:

Art is very difficult to evaluate because it is very subjective.

To add to it, I have a very unique taste.

Most times, the things that I find things appealing, my friends and family members find ordinary.

    Where the artwork/object is?

However, recently I bought a Lord Buddha statue for my room and most of my friends also said that it looked amazing.

In fact, some of them even asked me where I got it, so they could order one for themselves.

I have always been fascinated with Buddhist culture since my youth and so I always wanted to decorate my room with a Buddha statue.

A smiling Buddha statue is also supposed to bring luck if given as a present.

    What it looks like?

In the statue I got, he is also smiling, but at the same time, he is skiing.

He is wearing a snow cap, goggles, and a sort of kimono-like dress.

His hands are clasped together as if he is in a warrior stance.

But his clothes and the smile on his face give him a very funny look.

If I had to define the statue, I would say its a smiling warrior monk in the modern world.

I just found it so exquisite and unique.

As soon as I saw it, I wanted it for my room.

In fact, it’s the first piece of art I bought for myself.

    How it was made?

I don’t exactly know how it was made, because I purchased it from a store and I really didn’t enquire about the making process.

But I think it was hand sculpted from stone and then polished because the shop had hand-made Buddhist statues written somewhere.

And explain why you find it particularly beautiful?

I really think it is the most beautiful thing in my room.

I have kept it on the top of my bookshelf as it is directly in front of my room’s main door.

    Conclusion:

So, no one can miss it when they visit my room.

IELTS Speaking Part 3 : Follow up Questions

Here some examples of follow up questions that you may asked during your speaking part 3 by examiner related to cue card “Describe an object you find particularly beautiful (For example, a painting, sculpture, piece of jewellery/furniture, etc.)”.

    1. Do you think there are more beautiful things now than the past?

In my personal opinion, traditional art and sculptures are much more beautiful. I think in the past, it was easier for artists to find patrons in the form of kings and nobles and they could focus on their art without any financial worries. However, today it is much harder to earn money as an artist. The art being made today also reflects that – it is done more as a hobby rather than as a profession and the works produced are far behind those of the past.
