I just watched everything everywhere all at once and really liked it but was a bit confused by the lack of . I watched it by renting it off google play and none of the Mandarin on the film had subtitles. If I enabled closed captioning, it simply said (speaking Mandarin) is this normal? People seem to speak like there should be subtitles but I can't find anything definitive.

Google play did the same thing with both Quiet Place movies. If you turn on English subtitles the subtitles for any sign language disappear. It's ridiculous. Maybe they assume you know sign language if you have subtitles on.

Yeah if you have subtitles on it just says speaking Mandarin but I would think that it would have subtitles for the Mandarin with them off but nope

I saw it in theatres, and the Mandarin did indeed have English subtitles

On Amazon it has English subtitles for mandarin if you have closed captions for hearing impaired but it doesn’t have captions for the English and I am hearing impaired

I actually rewatched it somewhat recently on Amazon, and it was much better with subtitles.

Looks like other had same problem with Google Play. So probably should check with Google.
