The poem is by Robert Frost, called “Fire and Ice”.

The poet believes that both are capable of destroying the world. It is easier to assume fire would be more destructive, but he makes an argument for ice.

    Here is the poem:

Some say the world will end in fire,

    Some say in ice.

From what I’ve tasted of desire

I hold with those who favor fire.

But if it had to perish twice,

I think I know enough of hate

To say that for destruction ice

Is also great And would suffice.

The poet creates a ratio: Desire is to fire in what hate is to ice. He sees both emotions as capable of ending the world.

    The reader is left wi

Most people think of hatred as a burning fire that…….. well that burns inside you.

And while in reality it will - most likely - be the sun’s destruction that ends the world, and as such “the world will end in fire” I am pretty sure that isn’t what Robert Frost means.

No - I am pretty sure that he means the world as we know it - by which I mean humanity - will be destroyed by our relentless hatred for each other.

That we will never find reasons to get over the hate that divides our countries, our religions, our societies and one person from another. There is far more in this world that unites us t

Robert Frost’s “Fire and Ice” is one of the controversial poems of him, because it associates two opposite elements. He asks the readers, which of these two elements will destroy world. Normally readers may think that it would be fire, but one cannot rightly judge that. Frost says that, both of these elements play an equal role in the process of destruction. He associates this with human emotions, he relates “fire” with human beings passion, anger and desire; he associates “ice” with humans cold heart and hatred. So, Frost says definitely too much “fire” and too much “ice” in human emotions wi

I honestly always thought that meant climate change. For many people the Ice Age was the true beginning of the world. And now as climate change wages it’s war, the temperature of the earth increases, wildfires wipe out natural habitats and many animal and human lives, and the glaciers are melting off. Scientists are screaming that we are nearing the end of life as we know it if we don’t do something now but alas money is more important than saving the world. And climate change continues on. The earth continues to heat up, winters get shorter, storms increase in ferocity, and rain becomes less

Genesis 9:11 after the Great Flood, in which life on earth was preserved by Noah’s Ark, God promised never again to destroy the world with a flood: “ I establish my covenant with you: Never again will all life be destroyed by the waters of a flood; never again will there be a flood to destroy the earth." (Genesis 9:11)

This was interpreted in song by the Carter Family, whose song “God Gave Noah the Rainbow Sign” includes this lyric:
