Find the area of a quadrant of a circle whose circumference is 22 cm. We find the radius of the circle (r) from the circumference (c), C = 2πr, and area of the circle using A = πr^2.
Find the area of a quadrant of a circle whose circumference is 22 cm. We find the radius of the circle (r) from the circumference (c), C = 2πr, and area of the circle using A = πr^2.
Find the area of a quadrant of a circle whose circumference is 22 cm
Solution:Let the radius of the circle be 'r'
Thus, the circumference C = 2πr
Therefore, r = C/2π
A quadrant of a circle means one of the four equal parts.
Therefore, the area of a quadrant = 1/4 × Area of a circle = 1/4 × πr2
Circumference (C) = 22 cm
Therefore, radius (r) = C/2π
= 22/(2 × 22/7) = (22 × 7)/(2 × 22) = 7/2 cm
Therefore, the area of a quadrant = 1/4 × πr2
= 1/4 × 22/7 × 7/2 × 7/2
= 77/8 cm2

Ex 12.2, 2 Find the area of a quadrant of a circle whose circumference is 22 cm. Area of quadrant = 1/4 area of circle = 1/4 (" "r2 ) Now, we need to find r. It is given that Circumference = 2 r 22 = 2 r 22/2 = r 11 = r 11/ = r r = 11/ r = 11/(22/7) r = 11 7/22 r = 7/2 cm Now, area of quadrant = 1/4 area of circle = 1/4(" "r2) = 1/4 22/7 (7/2)^2 = 1/4 22/7 (7 7)/(2 2) = 1/2 11/1 7/4 = 77/8 cm2
