    The network is the AND of the two, so it’d be 192.168.0.0, with discontiguous host addresses.

    It’s theoretically possible, and I’ve done it with access lists, where you are using a mask alone (as noted above, the mask is simply an AND or other function of the mask and address of interest).

    But in practice, alsot all systems you might want to try that on would reject that mask. So what it would be in theory doesn’t matter.

    But yes, in theory, you could do it.
