From the given diagram,

R 1 =500Ω R 2 =1500Ω V 2 =10V

As the resistors are in parallel, the potential difference across the 1500Ω will also be 10 V.

The potential difference across the 500Ω will be

V 1 =12−10=2V

According to ohm’s law,

V=IR ⇒I= R V

Current across the 500Ω is

⇒I 1 = R 1 V 1 = 500 2 =4×10 −3 A

Current across the 1500Ω is

⇒I 2 = R 2 V 2 = 1500 10 =6.66×10 −3 A

From above calculations, I

So the potential difference across Zener diode will never reach to breakdown voltage.
