Welcome to UAS Dharwad

The University of Agricultural Sciences, Dharwad was established on October 1, 1986.

The University has 5 Colleges, 27 Research Stations, 6 Agriculture Extension Education Centers, 6 Krishi Vigyan Kendras and ATIC. The University has its jurisdiction over 7 districts namely Bagalkot, Belgaum, Bijapur, Dharwad, Gadag, Haveri, and Uttar Kannada in northern Karnataka. Greater diversity exists in soil types, climate, topography cropping and farming situations. The jurisdiction includes dry-farming to heavy rainfall and irrigated area. Important crops of the region include sorghum, cotton, rice, pulses, chilli, sugarcane, groundnut, sunflower, wheat, safflower etc. The region is also known for many horticultural crops.

Considerable progress has been registered in the field of education, research and extension from this University.

ಕೃಷಿ ವಿಶ್ವವಿದ್ಯಾಲಯ, ಧಾರವಾಡ ಅಕ್ಟೋಬರ್ 1, 1986 ರಂದು ಸ್ಥಾಪಿತವಾಯಿತು.

ಈ ವಿಶ್ವವಿದ್ಯಾಲಯವು 5 ಕಾಲೇಜುಗಳನ್ನು, 27 ಸಂಶೋಧನಾ ಕೇಂದ್ರಗಳನ್ನು, 6 ವಿಸ್ತರಣಾ ಘಟಕಗಳನ್ನು, 6 ಕೃಷಿ ವಿಜ್ಞಾನ ಕೇಂದ್ರಗಳನ್ನು ಮತ್ತು ಕೃಷಿ ತಂತ್ರಜ್ಞಾನ ಮಾಹಿತಿ ಕೇಂದ್ರ ಹೊಂದಿದೆ. ಉತ್ತರ ಕರ್ನಾಟಕದ 7 ಜಿಲ್ಲೆಗಳಾದ ಬಾಗಲಕೋಟೆ, ಬೆಳಗಾವಿ, ಬಿಜಾಪುರ, ಧಾರವಾಡ, ಗದಗ, ಹಾವೇರಿ, ಮತ್ತು ಉತ್ತರ ಕನ್ನಡ  ಇವುಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಇದರ ಕಾರ್ಯವ್ಯಾಪ್ತಿ ಹೊಂದಿದೆ. ಇಲ್ಲಿ ಮಣ್ಣು, ಹವಾಮಾನ, ಬೆಳೆಪದ್ಧತಿ ಇವುಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಸಾಕಷ್ಟು ವೈವಿದ್ಯತೆಯನ್ನು ಕಾಣಬಹುದಾಗಿದೆ. ಇದರ ಕಾರ್ಯವ್ಯಾಪ್ತಿಯು ಒಣಬೇಸಾಯದಿಂದ ಹಿಡಿದು ಭಾರೀ ಮಳೆಬಿಳುವ ಹಾಗೂ ನೀರಾವರಿ ಪ್ರದೇಶಗಳನ್ನು ಆವರಿಸಿದೆ. ಜೋಳ, ಹತ್ತಿ, ಭತ್ತ, ಬೆಳೆಕಾಳು, ಮೆಣಸಿನಕಾಯಿ, ಕಬ್ಬು, ಶೇಂಗಾ, ಸೂರ್ಯಕಾಂತಿ, ಗೋಧಿ, ಕುಸುಬೆ ಮುಂತಾದ ಮುಖ್ಯ ಬೆಳೆಗಳನ್ನು ಇದರ ವ್ಯಾಪ್ತಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಹೇರಳವಾಗಿ ಬೆಳೆಯಲಾಗುತ್ತದೆ. ಇದಲ್ಲದೆ ಈ ಪ್ರದೇಶವು ತೋಟಗಾರಿಕಾ ಬೆಳೆಗಳಿಗೂ ಹೆಸರುವಾಸಿಯಾಗಿದೆ.

ಈ ವಿಶ್ವವಿದ್ಯಾಲಯದ ಮುಖ್ಯ ಆವರಣವು ಪೂಣೆ-ಬೆಂಗಳೂರ ರಾಷ್ಟ್ರೀಯ ಹೆದ್ದಾರಿ ಸಂಖ್ಯೆ 4ಕ್ಕೆ ಹೊಂದಿಕೊಂಡಿರುವುದು. ಈ ಭಾಗವು ಸರಾಸರಿ ವಾರ್ಷಿಕ 880 ಮೀ.ಮೀ. ಮಳೆಯನ್ನು ಪಡೆಯುತ್ತಿದ್ದು, ಸಮುದ್ರ ಮಟ್ಟದಿಂದ 678 ಮೀಟರ್ ಎತ್ತರದಲ್ಲಿರುವುದರೊಂದಿಗೆ ಮಂದ ಬೇಸಿಗೆ ಹಾಗೂ ಚಳಿಗಾಲಗಳನ್ನು ಹೊಂದಿದೆ. ಸುಮಾರು 542 ಹೆಕ್ಟೇರ್ ಭೂಮಿಯನ್ನು ಮುಖ್ಯ ಆವರಣದಲ್ಲಿ 1700 ಹೆಕ್ಟೇರ್ ಭೂಮಿಯನ್ನು ಇತರೆ ಕೇಂದ್ರಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಹೊಂದಿದೆ.

ಈ ವಿಶ್ವವಿದ್ಯಾಲಯದ ಮುಖ್ಯ ಧೋರಣೆಯು ಬೋಧನೆ, ಸಂಶೋಧನೆ ಹಾಗೂ ವಿಸ್ತರಣೆಯನ್ನೊಳಗೊಂಡ ಸಮ್ಮಿಶ್ರ ಕಾರ್ಯಗಳನ್ನೊಳಗೊಂಡಿದೆ. ಇದರ ಖ್ಯಾತಿಯು ದೇಶ ವಿದೇಶಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಹರಡಿದೆ. ಉತ್ತಮ ಗುಣಮಟ್ಟದ ಶೈಕ್ಷಣಿಕ ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮಗಳು, ಸಂಶೋಧನಾ ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮಗಳು ಹಾಗೂ ವಿಸ್ತರಣಾ ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮಗಳ ಮೂಲಕ ದೇಶದ ಇತರೆ ಕೃಷಿ ವಿಶ್ವವಿದ್ಯಾಲಯಗಳಿಗೆ ಹೋಲಿಸಿದಾಗ ಅಗ್ರಸ್ಥಾನದಲ್ಲಿದೆ. ಶೈಕ್ಷಣಿಕ ಹಾಗೂ ಸಾಂಸ್ಕೃತಿಕ ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮಗಳೊಂದಿಗೆ ಇಲ್ಲಿನ ವಿದ್ಯಾರ್ಥಿಗಳು ರಾಷ್ಟ್ರಮಟ್ಟದಲ್ಲಿ ಮನ್ನಣೆಯನ್ನು ಗಳಿಸಿದ್ದಾರೆ.

ಶೈಕ್ಷಣಿಕ, ಸಂಶೋಧನಾ ಹಾಗೂ ವಿಸ್ತರಣಾ ಕಾರ್ಯಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಈ ವಿಶ್ವವಿದ್ಯಾಲಯದಿಂದ ಗಣನೀಯ ಪ್ರಮಾಣದಲ್ಲಿ ಪ್ರಗತಿಯನ್ನು ದಾಖಲಿಸಲಾಗಿದೆ.

University of Agricultural Sciences (UAS), Dharwad is a premier institute of Agricultural Science, was established in 1986 under section 3 of the Karnataka Universities of Agricultural Sciences Act, 1963. It began College of Agriculture in 1947 at Dharwad. The university aims to provide for undergraduates and postgraduate instructions in agriculture and other allied branches of learning.

The University has 5 Colleges, 30 Research Stations, 6 Extension Education Units, 5 Krishi Vigyan Kendras and ATIC.

Research

The research programmes of the University are of three kinds viz., basic, applied and strategic oriented towards solving location specific and farmer-centric problems.

The University has so far released 169 varieties / hybrids of different crops including cereals, oilseeds, pulses, commercial crops, fodder crops, horticulture and plantation crops

In addition, 261 Crop Protection Technologies and 278 Crop Production technologies have also been recommended

The research needs of the farmers are catered through 30 Agricultural Research Stations spread across diverse agro-ecosystems, 26 AICRPs and 214 externally funded ad-hoc projects

We can join college through entrance exams like kcet, Diploma agriculture which is conducted every year based on the ranking the colleges are allotted for kcet pcmb are main subjects, there are reservation quotas according to categories and also 50 percent practical quota for farmers son /daughter and other quotas like Kannada medium, rural, handicapped etc, the admission procedure is easy.
