Chromosomal theory of inheritance:- The Boveri–Sutton chromosome theory (also known as the chromosome theory of inheritance or the Sutton–Boveri theory) is a fundamental unifying theory of genetics which identifies chromosomes as the carriers of genetic material. The chromosomal theory of inheritance was proposed independently by Walter Sutton and Theodore Boveri in 1902. Similarities in the behavior of chromosomes and genes are as follows: Both chromosomes and genes occur in pairs in a diploid organism. Both chromosomes and genes loose their paired condition during gamete formation. It is the pairing and separation of a pair of chromosomes that ultimately leads to segregation of the pair of factors they carry.
